Fortune for the day: The superior person is modest in his speech, but exceeds in his actions
It was a pretty decent weekend by any standards, considering we had the extra day off (Labor Day! To honor the country's work force, those of us left with a job, anyway).
Saturday - Checked out the Fairtex martial arts school with Sniper and Cal Trans, got a introductory lesson to Muay Thai kickboxing. Gives you quite a workout. I'd love to start taking lessons, it's just the distance and time (It's all the way in Daly City, which wouldn't be too bad, but I'm in Fremont now)
A's game - 17 straight. Didn't stay for the fireworks. My bad. That's ok, had other plans...
...which was dinner with Rianne and Rainelle at Kyoto's in San Mateo. Down to earth girls, those two. Talk alot of shit, but still sweet. Afterwards, rented "The Time Machine" and watched it at Ri's house. So, Guy Pearce went from doing "Memento" to this? Actually, it wasn't that bad. I'd like to read the book again to see how bad they butchered the story though. Oh and Golden Retrievers are cool dogs. Heh. Just restless. And their tails can take your eye out.
Sunday - Woke up bright and early to head to where else? Oaktown for the A's game. Jermaine Dye bobblehead day. Damn, talk about a line. Got there at 10:30. Didn't get in the seat until 12:30. Managed to snag a bobble, though. These things are cool! As for the game, what can I say? Bottom of the ninth, down by two, Miggy up. Three run dinger. A's win. 18 straight. Nuff' said.
..afterwards, drove down to Sunnyvale for Kai and Dean's bbq. Chilled on the lawn with PIAAdoll and Lunatik. Kai cooked a mean cal be. Good seein the guys again, as always. I didn't stay too long since I was beat from the game and besides there was still...
...that night. Met up with PIAAdoll and drove to Mission Rock. The line was practically out to Oakland. Forget it. So, we parked and called peeps trying to figure out what to do. I mean, hell, it's a Sunday evening in the city, most people aren't working the next day. There's got to be SOMETHING goin' on. Well, after hitting up Hukilau (closed), it was off ot Triangle Lounge (ditto) WTF? Well, nonetheless, we ended up at The Comet Lounge and City Tavern, sandwiched in between a pizza stop at Pizza Orgazmicos, where we met up with PIAAdoll's homegirl Caroline and her friends. A couple of drinks, a couple of laughs, and it was all good.
Monday - A's ( This time, from the comfort of my parents' pad and a 32" WEGA TV) Same deal ( Miggy batting) Same situation (Bottom Nine, Game tied, bases juiced) Same outcome (Single up the middle, 7-6 Win. Streak at 19).
I missed playin' ball with G and Johnny Delicious because I was assed out after Sunday, I didn't get home until 6:30 in the AM because after that tumultuous night, I ended up at My-Kee's with Arleh and Dean playin' Super Mario Smash brothers. So, to say the least. I was tired.
Ended the long weekend at Le Cheval in Oakland (again) for dinner with the usual suspects. I think it's becoming tradition when out of towners come in. This time it was for Arleh. I probably slept like a baby last night. And if you've reached the end of this, I applaud you. I would've dropped off a long time ago.
